Sleep Better!

Good morning, tea friends! How did you all sleep last night? I ask because I "slept like the a rock", as some would say. And, boy, did I need it! This week, for me, has been jam packed with work, catching up on some at home projects, and packing as I am moving in 2 weeks! Ah! Needless to say, I am one tired lady and have been really hitting the pillow hard at the end of the day this week. Because of this, last night I took the time to brew myself a cup of our Sleep Better tea and was blown away at the relaxation I felt.

For those who have not had the pleasure of trying this tea yet, our Sleep Better is one of our herbal teas. It is comprised of valerian root, lemon myrtle, verbena, spearmint, chamomile, and lavender. All of these components are naturally caffeine free! Valerian root is a very well known herbal remedy for insomnia, nervous tension, and anxiety. It grows among wild flowers and works by increasing the levels of gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in your brain. Pharmaceutical drugs such as Xanax and Valium work by means of increasing GABA in the brain as well. Lemon myrtle is a plant native to Australia that is used to infuse very strong citrus notes, which are known for the relaxing properties. Cleaning companies you will often see use lemon myrtle in their products for it's citrus aromas which are known to ease tension and induce relaxation. Verbena and spearmint are both plants that have soothing digestive properties. We known that sometimes we all overindulge a bit at dinner which can lead to restlessness at night. Both verbena and spearmint in this tea will help with that and leave your body relaxed and ready for a good night's sleep. Chamomile is very well known for it's sleep inducing properties and the chamomile in this tea is actually our Egyptian Delta Nile Chamomile. Sourced all the way from Egypt, you will feel no need to add honey to your tea because of this component. The strong honey notes add just the right amount of sweet. Lastly, the lavender in this tea is known for it's aromas inducing anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, and anti-fatigue, all of which we all need a bit of!
With all of these ingredients combine, you will find yourself to be delightfully reacquainted, and fast friends with Mr. Sandman. The combination delicious as well! The primary flavors are from the chamomile and lemon myrtle and subtle notes of lavender and spearmint only bolster these. If you have any other questions, please reference our previous blog posts that I'll link below having to do with some of our other sleepy teas. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day and that later tonight you are able to catch a copious amount of zzz's! Sleep tight, friends! - Kaytea :)
