    The Tea Infuser

This travel mug comes with its own plastic infuser which is engineered to work specifically for this travel mug.  The loose leaf infuser basket has super fine mesh to keep the tea in.  Simpy measure out 2 teaspoons of your favorite loose leaf tea into the infuser and gently set it into the grooves at the top of the tea tumbler. Use care when placing and removing the infuser in the tumbler. Do not push past the grooves or tea leaves will leak into the tea.  Hand wash the infuser.

    The Tumbler Has Three Parts

The inside part of the tumbler which holds the tea is made of high grade stainless steel. This part nestles inside an attractive, high-strength outer plastic shell (BPA-Free). The inner and outer pieces are held together tightly by the screw-on base. This double walled construction creates an air pocket which helps to keep the tea hot.  The outer shell stays at room temperature and is cool to the touch, while the inside shell remains hot.  This double-walled tumbler will keep your tea hot much longer than a single-walled tumbler.  Try pre-heating the tea tumbler for a minute with hot water to keep your tea hotter longer.

Take the tea tumbler apart to clean it by unscrewing the base. The inner, stainless steel part can be washed in the dishwasher. hand wash the outer shell and plastic base. Make sure that the inner and outer shells are snug before screwing the base on.

    How to use

Measure tea into the infuser and set aside.  Heat your filtered water in a kettle. Carefully pour hot water into the tumbler about half inch below the groove. Carefully place the infuser basket into the tumbler. Secure the lid.  The lid will set the infuser in place into the groove. (If the infuser sits below the groove, you may get tea leaves in your tea.)   Make sure the lid is closed by rotating the knob.  Your tea will infuse inside the tumbler.  After a few sips of tea, your tea will stop infusing because it will not be in contact with the hot water. Remove infuser after you finish drinking your tea, not while it is hot.

    Hepful Hints

Do not place tumbler in the microwave oven.

Keep tumbler upright to prevent leaking.  Tumbler lid has a opening which closes. Keep it closed to keep tea inside the tumbler and to keep it hot.  There is also a steam vent hole.

Use a mild soap on the plastic parts. Keep base tightened on for best results. Use care removing used tea from infuser to prevent breakage.

  • Steeping Instructions

1 teaspoon per 8 oz of water. Fluffy leaves like some Oolongs, use 2 teaspoons. For stronger tea use more tea.   There is no hard and fast rules on steeping except over steeping may make tea bitter.   If you are unsure, try cooler water and shorter steeping times. Below are general steeping instructions.  For best results, follow the steeping instructions that came with your tea.
To estimate water temperature use a thermometer or wait a 2-3 minutes after the water stops boiling. Then the water temperature should be about 165- 185 F. You can gauge water temperature by looking at the bubbles forming at the bottom of the tea kettle.  When pin size bubbles form, the water temperature is about 185F. To take the guess work out of water temperatures, try our electric tea kettle.
