Wood Textured Japanese tea cup - Namako

Elevate your tea experience

Drinking tea from a better cup is said to improve the taste of the tea and improve the overall experience.  We couldn't agree more.  That's why these tea cups are perfect. They are made in Japan drawing on centuries of experience.

Each cup is fired in a kiln 3 times.

The first firing takes the raw clay from the earth and shapen into a drinking vessel and with extreme heat, transforms it into a cup. The clay contains grog and gives the cup a rough yet pleasing tactile experience.  The second firing sets the metallic underglaze which appears on the bottom and inside of the tea cup. The third glaze is a deep blue - the top half color of the teacup. Under the glaze is a subtle wood pattern made visible with the differing shades of blue glaze

Two of the firings are visible when you flip the cup over. Visible in the center ring is the clay material the first firing and the second is the metalic black which surrounds the ring.

This cup feels good when you hold it giving another sensual layer to your tea experience.  Elevate your tea experience with some fine tea cups.

Holds 10 ounces. Lead free finish. Dishwasher safe. Made in Japan
